I’m not sure exactly when it started, but I remember that even in high school I was drafting puff sleeves pattern for the blouses I was making. I was really into literal vintage garment at the time and even made a couple of silk blouses with elaborate leg of mutton sleeves, similar to the ones popular in the beginning of the last century. I’m not that literal anymore, my style is more toned down and casual these days. But I still gravitate towards puff sleeves. In fact that is probably my signature look, because people often refers to these kind of blouses as very “Johanna”. Sometimes I feel like such a cliche, but what can I say – I just love puff sleeves.
That’s my backstory of this blouse that blends a lot of things that I love and often wear; puff sleeves, peter pan collar, button details and transparent fabrics. This blouse is made of black eco friendly tencel with mesh inserts that has some flocked velvet hearts attached.
I drafted this pattern myself and love this blouse so much that I even made a second one, this time in a cream colored rayon. But more about that blouse in another post. Happy Sunday everyone!
