I love making knit tops that look a bit dressed up and has with some fun detailing. So I decided to rework an old pattern that I drafted myself many years ago. This version is my take on the classic pussy-bow blouse.
If you look close you’ll spot some gathers, both at the sleeve head and over the bust area. Gathers are such an easy way to add volume to a garment, without having to make it oversize.
Here you can see the gathers up-close. If you are curious about how to add gathers to knit garments while also retaining the stretch, check out the 4 Ways to Sew Gathers on Knits tutorial I´ve done.
I added simple cuffs to the sleeves too, again taking my style cue from blouses made from woven fabrics. But of course, these cuffs are much easier to sew. The fabric is wonderfully soft Rayon/Lycra knit that I´ve had in my stash for a while.
The ties can of course be tied in several different ways, but I mostly tie them into a regular bow.
Super happy about how it turned out and will probably sew more of this style since it´s such a versatile pattern.
