This jersey dress is something I did a while back, but I forgot to blog about. Sewing things for kids can be tricky, at least when they get older and have a more developed taste. But in the last year I’ve done two successful projects in collaboration with my youngest kid Anja. In both instances she came with a very specific idea that she had designed herself and then I tried to interpret it into a pattern and a finished garment.
I love talking design ideas with her because she knows everything from how long the sleeves should be to how wide she wants the neckline. The dress is made of organic jersey cotton and has a boat neckline and elastic casing above the waist.
She wanted this dress to wear on her last day of school before the summer leave begun. In Sweden this day is always a pretty big celebration, with music, singing, performances and speeches from the headmaster and such.
Anja is also the one who takes most of the photos of me for my blog these days. So it was nice to reverse the roles for once, but she says she prefers being behind the camera to being in front of it!
