The twist top has such an allure for us sew lovers doesn’t it? I remember a time in the mid noughties when everyone was doing them. I loved the one from the 04/2005 issue of Burdastyle magazine, think I did three versions, including a dress. But unfortunately I borrowed that particularly issue from the library and my trace is now sadly gone. So I was thrilled when I saw that Burda has released a new twist top pattern for their catalog.
The pattern number is 6911. Of course I hoped that it would be the exact same as my beloved Burda magazine pattern. But alas it was not. The two main differences are the front seam and that the front neckline is not stitched down, instead it is just folded inside with a raw hem, which felt weird at first but it does stay put. Also the actual pattern is drafted differently.
Notice the folded neckline with no seam. I think the dart seams that runs across the bust is supposed to be lower down or even under the bust, but on me they ride up a bit.

Very happy about the fit and I will surely use this pattern again. The top is made of a soft wool/lycra jersey, perfect for fall. My review is over at Pattern Review and I highly recommend this pattern, even though it has a few unusual construction methods.
